The Eifel - multi-faceted, welcoming and irresistibly charming

The Eifel in the western part of Germany and in the heart of Europe is a region that inspires a spirit of discovery.

This upland region between Aachen, Cologne, Koblenz and Trier is rich in diversity.

The scenery in the south varies from the wild, rocky landscape of the Ferschweiler plateau and the valleys of the Sûre, Enz, Prüm, Nims and Kyll rivers, to the Bitburg region with its orchards and the densely wooded plateaus of the wild Islek region where Germany meets Belgium and Luxembourg.

The Volcanic Eifel is dotted with more mineral springs and volcanoes than anywhere else in Germany. Until about 10,000 years ago the volcanoes in the Vulkaneifel European Geopark were still active.

The Eifel National Park, the only national park in North Rhine-Westphalia, lies to the north. With its gnarled beech and oak woods, secluded ravines and turbulent streams it is a marvellously scenic place to explore.

Experience nature with all your senses

In recent years, our specialist partners in Germany and across the border in Luxembourg have joined forces to create barrier-free holidays in the Eifel-Ardennes region. 'Experiencing nature with all your senses' is about making this area of outstanding natural beauty accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Special initiatives include:

The euvea leisure and conference hotel in Neuerburg in the southern Eifel attaches great importance to access for people with disabilities and is specially designed for this purpose. Unaccompanied disabled people are welcome.

The Ardennes Draught Horse Tourist Estate at Munshausen in the Our National Park in Luxembourg is a barrier-free living museum devoted to the preservation of rural life and architecture. The museum also offers accommodation suitable for people with disabilities.

Eifel: accessible to all
This project run by Naturpark Nordeifel e.V. draws together a large number of products and services enabling people with disabilities to make the most of the Eifel region. It also features the 16 Nature Experience Centres in the northern Eifel, which provides an especially wide range of accessible activities.
